PIREP - Stark Avionics

As many people, I appreciate pireps from people with knowledge of shops you have (good or bad) and prefer to pass on my experience for that deliberation over others at the same time. After a so-so experience during a recent avionics install, I found myself looking for an alternate avenue for your setting up a brand new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The cost of one am high that we actually busted out laughing on the mobile phone like I were with a comedy bar. He was apparently not as amused because i. I was telling the storyplot of my local quote to some friend on the airport and that he recommended that we call John Stark at Stark Avionics for the quote. In doing my due diligence ahead of calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps on the shop. In this, I came across a completely terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you need you just read it). This pirep caused me serious concern about if they should call Stark to get a quote.

I posted an over-all query for tips about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and i also spoke regarding his knowledge of Stark and i also made a decision to give John a trip using the two recommendations I caused by trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns concerning the negative pirep on MS and the fact that I used to be gun shy depending on the previous experience. As they always say, there are two sides to every single story and John took his time and energy to explain his side in my experience much like me certain are experts in ready to use other people who wishes to phone him constantly and need rest. Our conversation shifted in the pirep to pricing. John i discussed different equipment options, what might be perfect for my needs/wants and the predetermined fee installed price per option. We ultimately decided to install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted us a soft price, but was beforehand the number may be slightly higher in the event the tray was riveted in (numerous Mooneys are). I attended edinburgh airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were attached with screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a very timely manner and confirmed the predetermined fee price for the equipment and install in some recoverable format and that we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane was to be dropped off the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said although have everything ready by Tuesday, however i opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in the event that there are some snags along the way.
